Universities in the United States and Canada seek candidates who can and are willing to examine on their own. Dr. Ian Mogilevsky is the President of the Manitoba Association of Christian Homeschools. All eight children were domestic-schooled in his circle of relatives, with four having graduated from excessive faculty at home and now in post-secondary training. “We decided to homeschool for some reasons,” says Mogilevsky. “The first, possibly the maximum important motive for us, is to have the possibility to instill our Christian values and morals in our children in a way that we’d honestly sense at ease with the learning, developing, and maturing.”
Mogilevsky provides that the opportunity to tailor-make each toddler’s training to their learning styles, pursuits, and desires greatly contributed to the decision to homeschool. Mogilevsky says that a lack of socialization, the most important argument or con in opposition to homeschooling, is not an issue for homeschooled high faculty graduates. “Socialization for homeschoolers is exclusive. However, I might say it’s miles better,” says Mogilevsky.
“I think homeschooling students appear with a purpose to communicate to every age of people simply, and they by no means pull away with speaking with adults because, of the route; they have a lot of publicity to adults in homeschooling.” The Old Schoolhouse mag, inside the United States, claims that universities and schools are searching out homeschool graduates; Mogilevsky confirms that is also the case in Canada: “There are many within the United States which can be actively in search of homeschool college students out, as well as in Canada. It is a growing phenomenon.”
Dr. Brian Ray of the National Home Education Research Institute says, “The SAT 2014 test ratings of college-sure homeschool students had been better than the countrywide common of all college-sure seniors that equal 12 months.” Even here in Winnipeg, Mogilevsky says, Canadian Mennonite University is actively looking for folks who took their training at home. “The reason that is, homeschooling sincerely presents an awesome opportunity for college kids to learn how to learn,” says Mogilevsky. “Universities are surely keen on that. They see that as an essential key to fulfillment: having real potential as a way to discover and analyze new matters while not having to be spoon-fed the facts.”
